We are thrilled to announce that the UNTWIST project has recently published a new research article titled: “Heat stress resistance in Camelina sativa: effects on morphology, physiology, yield, and seed quality.”
This study, conducted in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences (DISTAL), Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, Italy, and Rothamsted Research, UK, investigates how Camelina sativa, an emerging oilseed crop, responds to heat stress during crucial developmental stages.
The research provides valuable insights into the physiological and morphological mechanisms that contribute to heat tolerance in camelina. By understanding these responses, scientists aim to guide the development of resilient oilseed crops capable of withstanding the challenges posed by climate change.
Key findings of the study include effects on plant growth, seed yield, and seed quality under high-temperature conditions, highlighting strategies to improve crop performance under heat stress.
The study involved a dedicated team of researchers: Barbara Alberghini, Federica Zanetti, Federico Ferioli, Richard P. Haslam, Susana Silvestre, and Andrea Monti, whose collaborative efforts made this work possible.
