The four camelina focus lines selected from the UNTWIST core collection are now being analysed in open field conditions in France, Italy, Spain and the UK. In Spain, the focus lines are planted between November and December at the experimental farm Entresierras, in Ciudad Real. Various physiological parameters including SPAD, gas exchange and chlorophyll a fluorescence as well as water use efficiency will be analysed before and after flowering to gain insights into the response mechanisms of the camelina focus lines to heat and drought stress under field conditions.
Physiological and agronomic data from the trials in Spain will be compared with those from the campaigns in France, Italy, and the UK. This will allow to assess the effect of different environmental conditions on camelina performance and to identify the most suitable line among the four focus lines tested for cultivation in each location.
